Any bowhunters on this board?
Just out of curiosity, wondering if there's any archers on this board. I placed an order for a new Wes Wallace bow this weekend after meeting him out at his house in Beavercreek. Really good guy and a hell of a craftsman.

I archery hunted for many years, elk and deer, but haven't hunted in years. The technology on bows have changed so much since I hunted. Bottom line, if your are talking about hunting rather than just target, the real sport in hunting is archery. Simply you have to get within 60 yards for a sane, non "Hail Mary" shot.......loved archery hunting.

When I wrote this post, I literally thought to myself "I bet Alan is/was a hunter."
I grew up shooting longbows that my dad made in his shop in the attic, starting at about 3 years old. Every other year I'd get a bigger, stronger bow. He hunted with his, and took down a black bear one year. These days I shoot a recurve, so instead of 60 yards, I'm looking at 15-30 yards depending on how open the shot is and how desperate I am (never above 30 though, not sporting).
The archery circles, especially primitive archery, tend to be me (28) and a bunch of older fogies. I'm looking at getting 1-2 buddies who are interested in archery to come out to the woods with me this year. I read the other day that only 34,000 people got archery deer tags in Oregon last year, in a state of 4 million.
