On a side note the Publix store here in Franklin Tn now carries Tillamook Ice Cream...brings back memories of being in Oregon
My Aunt lived in Yachats all through the 60's and 70's. Her place was one of the last 2 houses on Perch Street, so literally right where Tillicum Beach (Runs from north Yachats to Waldport/Alsea Bay) meets the rocks that pretty much line the coast south to the Yachats River.

If one is into tide pooling and whale watching, not a bad location.

Yachats is mid-coast, so it's about 18 miles north of Florence, and 23 miles to Newport, which are the nearest decent highway access points to that part of the coast. (The road from Waldport inland along the Alsea Riveer, is a basket of snakes).
