UCLA drops their opener to Cincinnati 26-17. They lost starting QB Speights to an injury so had to play true FR Dorian Thompson-Robinson. Their youth and lack of depth and talent really showed.

Chip is 0-2 in college debuts but 2-0 in NFL debuts.

Chip made a bad decision to go for it on 4th and 1 with 6 minutes left deep in his own territory and down by 2. Cincy then milked most of the clock off with 2 of their own 4th down conversions. Down 9 they got the ball back and picked up yards before time ran out due to not having any timeouts.

Yeah, there were a lot of factors that made that an extremely poor decision. They were having all sorts of issues with the true freshman at QB (accuracy, receivers dropping balls, etc.). The risk/reward made no sense in that situation with that play call.Duck07 wrote:Chip made a bad decision to go for it on 4th and 1 with 6 minutes left deep in his own territory and down by 2.

Not surprised, I think most here expect UCLA to do pretty poorly their first year. But I do think Chip will have a solid team in a few years.
