Post season ban for Mizzou. Superior Education Conference?

Post by woundedknees »

http://www.espn.com/college-football/st ... emic-fraud

"The NCAA Division I Committee on Infractions on Thursday banned Missouri's football, baseball and softball teams from competing in the postseason this year and placed the athletics department on three years of probation as a result of academic fraud.

The penalties were handed down after a two-year investigation into alleged academic fraud at the SEC institution.

The football, baseball and softball programs will also have a 5 percent reduction in scholarships for the 2019-20 academic year. They also will have a seven-week ban on unofficial visits, a 12.5 percent reduction in official visits and evaluation days, and a seven-week ban on recruiting communications and off-campus recruiting evaluation days."

Mizzou replies:

"The Committee on Infractions has abused its discretion in applying penalties in this case, and the University will immediately appeal this decision that has placed unfair penalties on our department and programs. It is hard to fathom that the University could be cited for exemplary cooperation throughout this case, and yet end up with these unprecedented penalties that could unfairly and adversely impact innocent current and future Mizzou student-athletes."

Oh, the pain!

Indeed, and NC fought their allegations, while Mizzou apparently cooperated to a large degree.

Seniors can transfer and be immediately eligible. I wonder how many they will lose.

Wait, UNC got punished? If what they "got" was punishment, hell do it again!

Bryant was quoted as saying he plans to stay...

"Bryant could transfer and play immediately at the FBS level due to the postseason ban levied against Missouri as long as the NCAA allows it, which is something that the Committee on Infractions recommended to the NCAA on Thursday. According to a report from The State, thought, Bryant plans to stay at Missouri and continue to participate in offseason workouts."

"The penalties mean that the Tigers’ highly regarded football team won’t be eligible for the SEC title game or a bowl game this fall. Their baseball and softball programs likewise will not be allowed to participate in the SEC Tournament or the NCAA Tournament."

It works out great for Bryant. He probably needed a regular season of games as an audition for the NFL and probably doesn't want to risk any injury from partaking in any bowl game. So now he won't even need to make the decision to skip the bowl game, hahaha.
