Position Eligibility Rule

Post by UOducksTK1 »

You can only start players listed as a PG at the PG position. The only exception is if a player not listed at a PG is marked as PG eligible in his draft notes.

A players designation coming into the league is:

Center - Can only play center and power forward

Power Forward - Can play center, power forward and small forward

Small Forward/Shooting Guard - They can play any position besides starting PG

Point Guard - Can start at all the positions

Bumping this for 2 reasons.
1. Did the draft notes for his year get erased, is that why Lee is playing PG for Orlando.
2. I really think this rules should be expanded, there are several instances where guys are playing 2 positions over from natural (Lee is the obvious one, but Splitter at SF is pretty silly too), it's clearly just exploiting the game's inability to properly account for position changes (in real life both those situations would be completely unplayable, but the game accounts for those guys being good for their positions (hands, shooting defense etc.) but can't appropriately drop those rating for the move, sure they make a reasonable drop for a guy 1 place out (PF instead of C and vice versa, SG/SF etc.) but Splitter playing SF should be a defensive disaster, instead he's still a really good defender. Lee at PG should be terrible on both ends of the court, he clearly isn't.
In the interest of keeping some realism I think there should be some discussion of not being able to play ANYONE more than 1 position from their natural one.
