this is a bit of confusing trade for me, I feel like Gervin could've at least netted a 1st? Bridgeman is also not even expiring

One team rebuilding, one team competing. Good for someone wanting to join league. I like it for both

Kind of a salary dump for the Spurs but Wolves get some good players for cheap

Accept.
Much better player for 1 extra year of salary. Don't mind it.

Re: Spurs/Timberwolves
Only 1 team reached out for Gervin and after surveying the landscape for teams needing a SG, the pickings was slim. In the end, it was best to shed 1 year of salary (year 3) for a worse player to help them tank and not risk Gervin decreasing even more next season and making him almost impossible to move. I was also able to shed Stansbury's salary for next seasonofftheheezy wrote:this is a bit of confusing trade for me, I feel like Gervin could've at least netted a 1st? East
Cavaliers - Have DJ
Heat - Dont have the salary to acquire Gervin
Hornets - Just traded their best player so why acquire Gervin?
76ers - Have Reggie Theus
Knicks - Run an outside offense, doesnt fit for Gervin
Celtics - Have Scott
Bulls - Dailey is signed longterm
Pistons - Salary would be tough and have Harper long term
Hawks - Just signed Tucker
West
Rockets - Have Dantley
Trailblazers - Have Jordan
Mavericks - Wasnt comfortable taking on salary, plus Blackman fills a nice role
Lakers - Have Griffith
Kings - Have Paxson
Grizzlies - Have Birdsong
Jazz - Have Brunamonti, runs outside offense
SuperSonics - Have Edmonson
I thought about adding small upgrades but for what? Getting the 8th seed and being bounced in the first round? That would be not be the best option for the team moving forward

Re: Spurs/Timberwolves
I get the thought process. Personally I'd have kept the better player in Gervin, he's 34 so he might well retire before that 3rd year. On the other hand... yeah I don't see the trade value for him either so makes sense to just clear cap for a new owner. I think it's a better deal for a team without an owner than one with an owner if that makes sense.
