NFL draft Pick1.32 Why not James?

Post by QuackininBama »

Giants pick David Wilson choosing a poor mans LaMichael James, with James still on the board.

Wilson 462 attempts 2662yds 18touchdowns
James 771 attemps 5082yds 53touchdowns

Both are similar size, have similar speed and neither are great blockers. But looking at the body of work over 3 years....it's not even close.

I'm a bit surprised the Giants passed on James here, only to get a player nearly identical to him, only half as good.

I'd have had James ahead of Wilson on my board. Wilson has 10 lbs on James but James is FAAARR better at breaking tackles and IMO is stronger than Wilson is. Too often teams get caught up in measurables or lack there of

Sorry UOducksTK1. I just now saw the link to the NFL draft thread. I did look for one for 5 minutes but assumed one didn't exist. Move if needed.

He's going to look odd not wearing #21 since I doubt Gore will give that number up.

I am. I love the Niners, wish they would have done something different with the first pick, but I will happily root for James on my favorite team once again. I guess Harbaugh got tired - can't beat em....

Very, He is place in one of the best running team in the league.

What will be interesting to watch is where he shakes out in the depth chart.

I'll be between him and brandon jacobs for teh 3rd running back spot. But he could shock the world and get the 2nd string, though unlikely.
