Last week we had a Coach explain how a 4-3 defense could work with our current personnel, and in the comments were many myths that he did not have the time or space to answer. So this week we see all the myths he takes on—and we learn in the process. Read over there and comment here, yadd-yadda….

I think the only one I disagree with (because most of those complaints just aren't valid) is the "Myth: “The 4-3 requires an amazing stud at middle linebacker.”
I believe that for a 43 to be at peak performance that it absolutely requires a cerebral Mike who can be the one guy capable of making all the changes necessary. He also has to be a well-rounded player capable of being a 3 down player without any glaring weaknesses to be exploited. He has to be able to communicate with both the DL and the DBs quickly and while Michael Clay doesn't fit what most people would call an "amazing stud" such as Kiko, Clay is absolutely the type of guy that would excel at Mike.
