Breakout player
Who do you guys think will be the surprise breakout player this year?
I'm going with the following:
Offense: Doug Brenner
Defense: Christian French

Re: Breakout player
I'm going to pick like 10 guys...
Firstly, I think our entire DB will show strong improvements. I think Reggie Daniels and Chris Seisay have already showed their stuff, but I think both Ugo Amadi and Tyree Robinson blow it up this year. Buckner will be one of the best defensive players in the Pac-12. I think Joe Walker has a dominant year, and I think Jimmie Swain has the potential to crack the lineup. I know one of our true freshmen OL will see some serious minutes, so pick your poison. And I can't pick between the two but I think Jalen Brown and / or Alex Ofodile add strong contributions. DL and RB have a lot of talent, but I don't think we see a whole lot of break out performances from any individual player.
I'm also hoping someone at TE can have a big year, but we'll see.
If I have to pick two:
LB Joe Walker
WR Jalen Brown

Re: Breakout player
On defense I think French, Tui Talia and Arrion Springs are all good choices. I'll go with Tyree Robinson though. He might be the most physically gifted player the Ducks have ever had in the secondary. If he can stay healthy, he has a chance to get a lot of those turnovers that Dargan collected last season.
On offense, whoever wins the backup job at running back will certainly have a chance to shine. Jalen Brown might be a good choice as well. I'm going to pick Mundt, which is more of a hope than anything else. The Ducks desperately need a tight end to step up big with Pharaoh out and I'm hoping Mundt grasps the opportunity.
In summary...
Offense: Johnny Mundt
Defense: Tyree Robinson

I like what I saw from him last year. Hopefully, he'll get an opportunity.

Re: Breakout player
Has this been determined? I was under the impression that Brenner is very much still in the mix to potentially start at one of the guard positions.buckmarkduck wrote: Fwiw Brenner won't be starting
