Didn't expect that statement. Mark Helfrich said that while other schools are/were recruiting La'Mar Winston as an offensive player or linebacker, they see him starting "on the back end," i.e., safety.
Also noted that La'Mar is getting to like being more physical, a note that says they are well aware of the concerns of Winston's physicality.

Interesting that they see him as a safety when everyone else (including him) were saying he'd be a LB.

Yea, it's interesting. That said, he ran a 4.64 at 6'2, 211lbs during the offseason. The athletic ability is there.

So Dye at LB and Winston at S?
Winston is somewhat undersized for LB, so I can see that.

Maybe a Nickel strong safety in a 4-2-5. I would be shocked if we don't play a nickel or a 3-4 the majority of the snaps in conference play.
