Kinda sucks to hear this; wonder what prompted it?

Jeez from starting in the playoffs as a freshman to unable to break the depth chart as a junior. Curious if this is a product of his development (or lackthereof) or the talent of guys that have come in the past few years.

WOW. I thought he was a "penciled in" starter this season (based on his experience). Never saw this one coming.

From what's been said on DT, he was kind of lazy and kind of expected to have the starting job handed back to him. Also, his lingering injury issues from last season have taken away a bit of his already limited athletic upside, which pushed him further behind the others.

To bad. Got to question if he loved the game, if he's willing to just walk away when it gets tough.

Sounds like Ty Griffin has even passed him up at this point.

Too bad and not good for depth, but kinda sounds like pigeon hole syndrome.

Another scholarship open! Love it. Now can get another DB in a GREAT DB class.

I didn't see this coming. There was an R-G article on him (http://registerguard.com/rg/sports/3471 ... e.html.csp) just two days ago.

Actually based on that article I am not surprised at all. He did not come across too happy.

It's been known for a couple weeks that Springs and Amadi were highly likely to be our starters at CB, with Lovette and Seisay right behind.

So a little surprising, but I guess he couldn't handle coming off the bench.

Based on a couple of things that some people with contacts inside the program are saying, this is not too surprising. Apparently he did not work real hard in the off season and just expected that he would be the starter again.

Good luck to him but if he wasn't happy or working hard then best to part ways now and see if there is a better fit elsewhere for him and for the team to go get a guy that wants to be here. Yes it hurts depth but if he wasnt working hard and wasnt happy then that is worse, dont need a guy bringing others down.

Since Neal likes putting the best 4 guys on the field, I would guess that if any of Amadi/Lovette/Springs gets banged up, Robinson slides over to CB so Williams/Daniels/Oliver get reps at the two safety spots.

It's also floating around that Springs is looking to jump to the NFL after this year. I wish him the best, but pretty ballsy of a guy with 1 career interception.

Agreed Stevens re Springs. He needs a really big year before he makes that move. Someone should tell him the story of Javes Lewis.
