If it's really down to those two, then it had better be Fleck. So say it is Fleck or Schiano.

Who coaches the offense? How well could he recruit here? And how do people feel about this? It's a big name but he really struggled at LSU if this is true Helf as the OC wouldn't be bad but the way everything went that's highly doubtful.Duck24 wrote:Add Les Miles to the mix hah.

Re: Coaches Tied to Oregon Job (Comprehensive List)
This is giving me a vision where Les Miles comes and stabilizes the program with his recruiting prowess/superior DC talent identification, hires Helf as the OC, and finishes training Helf to be a proper head coach so that he can succeed Miles and this time lead the program properly for 15-20 years like we all wanted when he was hired.
Is this a pipe dream based on unrealistic expectations? Yes. Does it mean it shouldn't be considered an optimal outcome if Helf truly is able to use another apprenticeship as an opportunity to fix the things that ailed him as a coach? No.
Edit: Obviously the Chipster returning would be short-term optimal, but realistically he has the 49ers trending up in offense and is clearly a competent NFL coach. I don't want him permanently damaging his reputation where he belongs for my own selfish benefit. Also if we're being honest, I really liked the increased middle and long range passing under Helf and would not want to see that go.

He seems like a homer desperate for attention. Maybe this is his big break though?

I think this guys father was a QB at Oregon many yrs ago.......The elder Roger Daniels was a good guy that was pretty active w/ UO.FlDuckFan wrote:I don't know how reliable this guy is but some smart people follow him..
BTW-Some here are mentioning Lane Kiffin. Kiffin has no shot at this job, Oregon wants to go a different direction but they aren't going down that road.
