Let's talk OL

Post by buckmarkduck »

With the addition of Warmack, who I think with start at G next year, we might have the most talented and deepest OL we have ever had at UO. The entire 2 deep goes over 300, 3 of them will be in their 3rd year starting together. Hanson, who was hurt almost all.of last year, should be back to competing for first team all conference honors. I'm really excited about the direction of our OL, you win in the trenches and the next 2 years we could very well.have the top OL in the conference.

With Mario at the helm we will always have a top tier OL. I love the emphasis he puts in the trenches.

Here's how I'd project it:
LT-Aiello
LG-Lemieux
C-Hanson
RG-Warmack/Capra
RT-Throckmorton

Wonder if George Moore makes push for one of those tackle jobs?

LT:Aiello...6'7", 312 lbs
LG: Lemieux...6'4", 315 lbs
C: Hanson...6'5", 298 lbs
RG: Warmack...6'2", 308 lbs
RT: Throckmorton...6'5", 316 lbs

I do think it will be a fight for the RT spot between Throck and Moore.

Throck is a pretty damn good RT. I think Moore is the 3rd OT and plays quite a bit.

That's what I'm thinking too. We really got 7 guys I could see starting.

Hard to top the 2007 OL in terms of talent...

Should be a really good, experienced line, that hopefully has learned from that Boise game.

I sure do hope so. In the LV Bowl....Vander Esch blew up our OL all by himself.

I’m uncertain about this group. I thought they would be better than they were last year. So I’m in the cautiously optimistic mind frame.

Hopefully, the work they're putting in with the new trainers will really show this season.

That and I think the mental aspect will have a significant change as well. Never underestimate the aspect of having an Offensive lineman for a HC has on the group. Those positions form a bond and knowing that your HC is one of you will make them work harder.

They were all sophomores other then Crosby right? Pretty young for an Oline I’m more concerned with the discipline they play with then anything else. Being one dimensional most of last year hurt too.

Hanson played the entire year with a broken bone, he didnt say anything to the media. That has a bit to do with the way the unit performed as well.
