Re: Jalen Hall
Looks like Oregon dodged a bullet by Hall leaving when he did. It probably would have been only a matter of time before he screwed up here. Sucks to see the kid waste every opportunity to better himself and get out of the street life.

Wow. I think a few of us heard about the alleged gang ties, but it seemed like an exaggeration.
I feel bad for Hall. Tough background to break free from. He had a great opportunity, but it doesn't work for everyone. Hopefully Hall can turn his life around instead of becoming another statistic.

Wow, like GoDucks said, sounds like the jhop gang rumors were true in the end.
Choosing to gang bang over a free ride to college, not a good look. I don't have a lot of sympathy for him.

Agreed, I know people hit rough times but I can’t judge, but when a hand is extended towards someone in need and they slap it away and continue to live a poor life, hard to have sympathy for them.GrantDuck wrote:Wow, like GoDucks said, sounds like the jhop gang rumors were true in the end.

Hope the kid learns his lesson quick. He's lucky that he was arrested and taken away. If he invaded the wrong house in LB, he could of exited that house in a body bag. Just sayin'....

Re: Jalen Hall
I remember a few posters said we shouldn't judge him when a few of us said that even if he didn't like football, he should suck it up to get a free education and degree out of the deal.
I agree that it's hard to break free from the environment that he grew up, but he literally did. He was in Eugene for 4 months and then purposely chose to go back to it. It's hard to make sound decisions and have delayed gratification at age 18, but while you can be a product if your environment, you can also be a product of your actions at the same time.

Not sure that it is correct that he was in Eugene for four months. He came at the start of spring term and left two days in. He was in Eugene by all accounts less than one month.lukeyrid13 wrote:I remember a few posters said we shouldn't judge him when a few of us said that even if he didn't like football, he should suck it up to get a free education and degree out of the deal.

Less than a month? Sounded more like less than a few days.

He showed up the week before spring ball started. Left on Tuesday.lukeyrid13 wrote:I thought he came in January?
What ever the last day to enroll that week before was, he was in Eugene on that day.

Re: Jalen Hall
I was one of the ones saying not to judge based on the optics of his situation. None of us knew the reason and still don't why he's not here. The speculation about his character, despite what has transpired, was off base given no one had any basis to make such judgments. It's clear something is keeping him from reaching his potential as a human being and unfortunately sometimes people are very difficult to extract from their environments, whether they are victims or criminals. I glanced at his twitter after this all came out and I didn't really see anything that screams a character flaw. Numerous retweets of lesser known players and their accomplishments regardless of their skin color shows me someone who's quite human inside. Still, what he did is absolutely intolerable and he deserves consequences.
