After what Helfrich and Taggart did this to the team, I'm surprised by the lack of patience and perspective everyone has had this season as if A+ coaches and players can be found easily for every position.Duck24 wrote:We don’t have bagmen and run a clean ship. 07 its the oregon fan base now. The chipster did great things here. Along with that came theDuck07 wrote:After what Helfrich and Taggart did this to the team, I'm surprised by the lack of patience and perspective everyone has had this season as if A+ coaches and players can be found easily for every position.Duck24 wrote:We don’t have bagmen and run a clean ship. expectations that it would last forever. Unfortunetly he also left us with sanctions that
were still dealing with a little bit. I believe Mario needs to have 2-3 recruiting classes like he has now.
He also seems like the kind who has high expectations as well and wont take being mediocre on offense.

Yeah, I think our collective group needs to alter perception and perspective this season. Wins are great and style points are inconsequential.

If we think the defense played well against UCLA, we have very low expectations. The UCLA running backs ran for 200 yards while averaging over 5 yards per carry. They passed for almost 300 yards (297). When your defense looks like swiss cheese defending the run, and combines that with allowing receivers to run wide open all over the field far too often, that isn't a good combo. Luckily UCLA continued their theme of giving the game away by simply dropping multiple passes that killed drives and cost them scores.Duckenstein wrote:Last week defense played well except for 2-3 bonehead plays

Especially in light with how UCLA's done against the rest of the Pac-12:gogreen55 wrote:If we think the defense played well against UCLA, we have very low expectations. Colorado 289 yards
Utah 291 yards
Cal 348 yards
Washington 422 yards
Not a good sign when they are dropping 500 yards on us.

I mean, Im not saying they're bamas defense
But you take 3 or so total blown assignment plays out, they score two less touchdowns
I don't think the defense is to blame for the teams woes
It's offensive playcalling that's been scouted by Monday of game week by opposing coaches
Alliotti hadn't even looked at film and can call every play they run by formation

On the other hand, there's more to look at than total yardage.UOducksTK1 wrote:Especially in light with how UCLA's done against the rest of the Pac-12:gogreen55 wrote:If we think the defense played well against UCLA, we have very low expectations. UCLA against:
Colorado 63 plays (4.6 yards per play for 16 points)
Utah 66 plays (4.4 yards per play for 10 points)
Cal 70 plays (5 yards per play for 37 points)
Washington 65 plays (6.5 yards per play for 24 points)
Oregon 87 plays (5.7 yards per play for 21 points)
The defense definitely has some room to improve, as does the offense in keeping the opponent's offense off the field.

Washington has a fantastic defense and they put up 422 on them. I think UCLA is just improving week to week.UOducksTK1 wrote:Especially in light with how UCLA's done against the rest of the Pac-12:gogreen55 wrote:If we think the defense played well against UCLA, we have very low expectations. We also held UCLA to like 45% passing with 27 incompletions.
That said, our defense is very poor at attacking shifty backs. One good cut and a big lane opens up

Oklahoma isn't known for their defense, they ended up firing the DC they had when they played UCLA.greenyellow wrote:UCLA also put up nearly 400 yards against Oklahoma
