Ducks release 2019 schedule

Post by greenyellow »

Oregon has released their full 2019 schedule. It includes only 4 real road games but Oregon (as well as every other Pac-12 team) will be getting 2 bye weeks this year, which is mainly due to the NCAA calendar starting before Labor Day this upcoming season.

Aug. 31 - v. Auburn
Sept. 7 - Nevada
Sept. 14 - Montana
Sept. 21 - at Stanford
Sept. 28 - OPEN
Oct. 5 - Cal
Oct. 11 (Fri.) - Colorado
Oct. 19 - at UW
Oct. 26 - WSU
Nov. 2 - at USC
Nov. 9 - OPEN
Nov. 16 - Arizona
Nov. 23 - at ASU
Nov. 30 - Oregon St.

Two open dates, though I don't think either is at a particularly strategically helpful time.

Other than vs. the Beavers, I think this will be the first time in a few years we've had a non-Saturday game scheduled.

And I can't say I "mind" that, on the official Go Ducks tweet of next year's schedule, Mr. Herbert is the first Duck player shown. Naturally, I don't want to read too much into that . . .

I actually believe the byes come at good times. The first one comes after the Stanford game, which is always a really bruising, rough game. That off week will give them time to heal for what should be a really dangerous Cal team. The second bye may not seem like it's coming at an important time but it also comes at the same time as Arizona's bye week, meaning both teams will have the same prep and heal time. Plus it's coming after what could be a really difficult part of the schedule (@UW, WSU, and @USC.)

8-4 next season feels a lot different than 8-4 this season, that’s a very tough schedule next year. Depending on how the recruiting class finishes and what players return (Herbert and Dye), I’d say the goal is 9-3 for next season.

Did some research and nice to see that no Duck opponent will have a bye week the Ducks don't have the week before the matchup. Interestingly, the Ducks will have a bye week advantage when hosting Cal (as gy mentioned), the exact reverse of the situation for this season's game at Cal, where the Bears had a bye the week before.

Will also be interesting to see what kind of shape Stanford will be in when it hosts the Ducks. Stanford starts its season with hosting Northwestern, then at USC and then at UCF before hosting the Ducks.

Stanford loses Bryce Love, any word if Arcega-Whiteside will return for his final season?

No back to back road games is a huge win.

Rumor is that he won’t even play in the bowl game so I’d say he’s a lock for NFL.

Yeah, but not the easiest road schedule.

Home schedule is pretty boring.

With Kelly Bryant headed to Missouri and Jarret Stidham off to the NFL Auburn need a QB.

James Crepea
@JamesCrepea
As of today, the QB depth chart for Auburn, Oregon's 2019 season-opening opponent:
- Malik Willis, Jr, 10/13 for 64 yards with TD in career
- Joey Gatewood, RS-Fr
- Cord Sandberg, form minor league baseball player
- Bo Nix, true freshman 4-star recruit
Great news for the Ducks

Yeah, that should be interesting. There are big questions for both teams going into that game. Will Oregon still have Justin Herbert or will he declare for the draft? If he does leave, who replaces him? Will Jim Leavitt still be the DC at Oregon?

For Auburn it's a question of will Gus Mahlzan still be the coach or will UA eat his buyout and move on? With Jarrett Stidham having entered the NFL draft, who'll replace him at QB?

I'm sure there are other things, as well.

LSU at Texas should be entertaining as well.
