Ducks open as -14 favorites. Definitely looks like Vegas thinks Cal will be without its starting quarterback.

Cal barely fell out of the top 25, accumulating enough votes to put it at "#27."

38-10, Oregon. Probably only 100 yards rushing for the Ducks, but this could be the game the offense starts clicking consistently.

Yup, we should push them around if he's still out.Tray Dub wrote:Ducks open as -14 favorites. Definitely looks like Vegas thinks Cal will be without its starting quarterback.

Some additions have been made to the depth chart at receiver for Cal:

Love seeing all 3 injured WRs back on the DC. Also like seeing those ORs at RG. Warmack has been struggling, Steven Jones will probably be starting before too long.

Cal's starter is out, so what are the odds we go our fourth game without allowing a TD?
Willie Taggart is a dick.

Yeah, looks like it's confirmed now that Garbers is out and the Bears are starting Modster (https://www.oregonlive.com/ducks/2019/1 ... ducks.html). Given all the benefits of the extra week the Ducks had to prepare, the disappointment of Friday evening's loss and Garbers' injury the Bears are dealing with and the seeming advantage that injury gives the Ducks, anything less than a pretty decisive victory by the Ducks at Autzen will be disappointing. Surely the Ducks' no TDs allowed streak must come to an end, and it wouldn't be the end of the world if it happened Saturday, despite Cal's less than stellar offense combined with the Garbers' injury. But it seems like the Ducks ought to be able to hold them to about 10 points.

Cal has a really stout defense but we had explosive plays against them last season. Curious to see if we've fixed some issues on that side during the bye week.

The strength of Cal's defense (like the Ducks') is its pass defense; its rush defense, statistically anyway, is pretty average to mediocre thus far. This might be a good week for the Ducks' rushing attack to "get well." I'm really hoping to see the Ducks, coming off their bye week and CMC clearly seeming to be focused on improving that part of the Ducks' offense, push 200 yards rushing this week.

I agree, the streak will end; and the world will keep spinning if it happens against the Bears...and Modster will be better with a week of practice. But, the wounded bear being more dangerous doesn't apply here, and the Ducks D is really juiced to keep the streak going.Greenblood wrote:Yeah, looks like it's confirmed now that Garbers is out and the Bears are starting Modster (https://www.oregonlive.com/ducks/2019/1 ... ducks.html). Give me the under on this one. I'm thinking Weaver gets twice as many tackles as the Bears get points. Mario runs CJ into the meat grinder to prove real men don't juke, that combined with the good Cal secondary holds the Oregon offense under 36 despite good field position all day.
