It's because the SEC schedules only 8 conference games and the ACC made Clemson's season opener a conference game instead of a non-con patsy game.alxtw wrote:How come PAC12 teams can't schedule cupcakes in the middle of the season, like clemson and SEC teams? Its essentially like giving them an extra bye week.
In Clemson's case, its conference games are the patsies: A & M & Wofford are 5-2. Clemson's conference opponents so far, 22-25. Louisville, 5-3, the only one with a winning record. Roar, Tigers.greenyellow wrote:It's because the SEC schedules only 8 conference games and the ACC made Clemson's season opener a conference game instead of a non-con patsy game.alxtw wrote:How come PAC12 teams can't schedule cupcakes in the middle of the season, like clemson and SEC teams? I missed that after glancing at their schedule. Just assumed their final game this season was against another ACC team when it's actually South Carolina.Bud Lee wrote:greenyellow wrote:It's because the SEC schedules only 8 conference games and the ACC made Clemson's season opener a conference game instead of a non-con patsy game.alxtw wrote:How come PAC12 teams can't schedule cupcakes in the middle of the season, like clemson and SEC teams? There is a few SEC East and ACC games at the end of the year. Florida State vs Florida and I think Georgia vs Georgia tech also play yearlygreenyellow wrote:I missed that after glancing at their schedule. Agreed. We should try and make things as linear as possible. If not, frankly the Pac-12 should stop playing 9 conference games, because they only get dinged for it (6 extra losses a conference) as opposed to getting credit for it.Bud Lee wrote:greenyellow wrote:It's because the SEC schedules only 8 conference games and the ACC made Clemson's season opener a conference game instead of a non-con patsy game.alxtw wrote:How come PAC12 teams can't schedule cupcakes in the middle of the season, like clemson and SEC teams? I do think everyone should play 9 and have to schedule one power 5 conference game a year though
Been saying that for years! I've never understood why everyone doesn't use the 8 game format. It sucks, i don't like our system at all. However if it give a advantage why not?lukeyrid13 wrote:Agreed.
