He's great but the PFF grader has always appeared to be a real Oregon homer. Note that they have him credited for zero sacks allowed. I can think of at least two recent ones that even in my homer eyes were on him.

I was gonna say the same thing, didn't he just allow a sack in the Arizona game?GrandpaDuck wrote:He's great but the PFF grader has always appeared to be a real Oregon homer. Two sacks notwithstanding, is it fair to say that Penei is the Offensive MVP?

He for sure 'gave' up a sack against Wazzu. He actually shoved his guy upfield on an edge rush, but Herbert backed up in the pocket into Penei's guy, instead of moving up in the pocket. Also Penei had that EGREGIOUS false start in that game too.

I seriously think Oregon should mount a Heisman campaign for him next year. An O lineman could never win, but getting him to New York would be the most Oregon thing ever. Oregon is still associated in many minds with flash and speed, so being the first school to get an O lineman to the ceremony would upend expectations- and that is the true Oregon brand.
