Should Arroyo have been allowed to coach the Rose Bowl?

Post by mrpd21 »

I get there are continuity reasons, yadda yadda. This is atrocious and I don't see how someone else play calling could be worse than this. So frustrating to watch as a fan to this point in the game. Arroyo moved on with his decision and we should have at that moment as well.

Its worst than allowing the player (forgot who) that declared for the draft and chose not to play to travel with our team and be on the sideline with the team for our bowl game that one year.

Where are all those Arroyo homers who were defending him all this season? It's a cut throat business and we are lucky UNLV was dumb enough to pay for our buy out

No, he shouldn’t have been allowed on campus after the 4th game of the year. He has been out coached almost every game. We win most of the time because we have superior players.

Well it's over and he didn't cost em the game, thankfully. I trust in MC and hope he learns and grows from this experience himself as the head coach. Protect your team at all costs, it was too risky to give Arroyo the keys in this game.

So who should have called plays instead? I'm not sure if any of the remaining coaches on the staff have had play calling responsibilities/experience on this team. Perhaps Cristobal could have called the plays, but I have no idea how involved he has been in that department, and he may have felt that he would be doing the seniors a disservice by having himself call them instead of having a person with more experience call them.

To add to that thought, I think it's helpful if the OC sits in the box to see defensive alignments better so that rules out Cristobal.

Mastro called the Nevada game, he would’ve been the clear choice.

I think Arroyo will be a better coach than OC.

Man, the offensive output of this game was pitiful... thank goodness for our defense.

I didn't mind Arroyo calling the plays -- not sure we had any better options in this case -- but man, I can't wait to have a REAL offensive coordinator next season. Finding an upgrade should be really easy.
Willie Taggart is a dick.
