Joe Moorhead officially hired

Post by greenyellow »

Oregon has officially announced Joe Moorhead as the Ducks' new OC. No confirmation in the press release if he'll be the QB coach also, but it's assumed he will since he's had that job title at every other stop he's been OC.

I'm stoked to see how our offense will look with a proven play-caller at the helm.
Willie Taggart is a dick.

Hopefully he can make our offense truly great again like it was in the Kelly/Mariota days and with the type of defense we have now , if he is able to do so then we will win it all

So:

Head Coach leaves, we upgrade.
Defensive Coordinator fired, we upgrade.
Offensive Coordinator leaves, we upgrade.

Pretty, pretty impressive.

Thats so unrealistic and such an unfair burden to put on 1 person.

Do NCAA rules allow him to meet/work with the QB's prior to the start of spring ball? If so how much?

According to 247 Sports, Moorhead signed a two-year deal and will be making $900K this season (Arroyo was slated to make $850K in 2020.)

I know it likely won’t happen , I just hope it can and if anyone can do it’s Moorehead . Though even if we get our offense back to say Vernon Adams Oregon Levels or 2017 Penn State levels we would be favorites for the title

There are rules about coaches engagement in the off season. I know they can meet with players, just not sure if there are parameters around the amount of time.

Welcome Coach Moorhead! I'm curious to see how he recruits too.

I’m surprised we’re not letting MSU pay him more. I’m assuming the 900k offsets from the rest owed on his contract. Or did he come to a settlement with MSU?

Its going to be interesting on how much control he has on the offense.
if total control then i'm happy. Will be interesting to see which qb emerges.

I feel like a proven guy like Moorhead wouldn’t come here unless he had full control.

We don't need to have a historically great Offense to win it all and nothing in his past suggests that by moving to Eugene he's going to create that. If we're Top 25 with our Defense we'll be just where we need to be.
