Question about linebackers?
So is it possible that Funa, Sewell and Flowe are on the field all at the same time? Where would Adrian Jackson fit in?

Re: Question about linebackers?
It’s possible, I think they’ll want a more experienced guy at 1 ILB spot though. Adrian Jackson plays OLB, I think he’ll compete for Winston’s spot, which I believe was only on the field when we had 4 OLBs or as a backup.

Re: Question about linebackers?
Oregon played a lot of 2-4-5 as well as 3-3-5. In the 2-4-5 it would be quite possible to see those 3 on the field at the same time depending on how they end up on the depth chart.
Under Leavitt the sub-packages like 2-4-5 had their own depth charts from the base package. I don't know if that is the case now but I would highly suspect it.
Different packages and in game substitution and the possibility of Funa being on the depth chart at 2 spots would make that combination being on the field at some point a distinct possibility when/if they all three make the rotation.

Re: Question about linebackers?
Funa I think will be at the "Edge" spot while Jackson I think will be in LaMar Winston's spot.
ILB is pretty open. I think the better of Sewell/Flowe there splits reps from game 1 with someone on the roster(#55, maybe).

Re: Question about linebackers?
ISM is definitely starting day 1 at one of the ILB spots. Funa is the guy on the edge. That leaves the other ILB spot and Winston's OLB spot. Would be surprising if one of Sewell/Flowe didn't win the ILB spot, and I imagine that the other will rotate in, either as their backup or ISMs. Adrian Jackson is the favorite to take the OLB spot, but it's the most situational spot of the 4 so he'll likely see the field the least of all these guys.

ISM was who I was thinking of when I said one of the more experienced guys.Phenom wrote:Did y’all forget about ISM!? Dude was as good as Dye this year.
STUD: Funa
ILB: ISM
ILB: Flowe or Sewell
OLB(situationally): Adrian Jackson
There are a lot of guys who could earn spots in the two deep.

For some reason I am very excited to see Andrew Johnson play. Looks like a beast!

Has Oregon ever been this stacked at linebacker? The depth seems crazy.

Re: Question about linebackers?
This sounds about right. I think Sewell and Jackson can backup Funa at STUD. Sewell will also backup ISM. They will all get lots of snaps.DuckDuckJuice wrote:ISM was who I was thinking of when I said one of the more experienced guys.Phenom wrote:Did y’all forget about ISM!? Also, they all have 2+ years of eligibility left. All besides ISM, 3+.

ISM just seems slow to me. Even with correct pursuit/leverage he gets beat to the corner often.ICamel wrote:ISM = Isaac Slade-Matautia

Re: Question about linebackers?
ISM is our best returning LB and it’s not even close. Funa is 2nd, Niu is 3rd. But those are far behind him, other than Troy Dye he was our best LB and his tape speaks for itself. I don’t think he’s slow, in Avalos’ system Troy was allowed to blitz and roam more often while ISM had an interior edge to set and a zone to cover. I bet we do something similar where ISM gets a box and the other ILB gets coverage and blitz duties.nogerO wrote:ISM just seems slow to me.
