Right.
Well ... they were, uh, as ready as they could be, I imagine. Sure as hell wasn't good enough - despite Sark's comments suggesting the contrary. As someone else posted: "Delusional". Kinda weird, actually. I expect delusional from many of the puppy fans, not from the coach.

Up 24-0 at halftime, now down 28-24. San Diego is choking like a porn star right now.

Asked what statement a blowout win made, safety Avery Patterson deadpanned, "That we're 7-0."

Chip couldn't have said it better himself.

The play calls for a zone read for Bennett with Lyerla, but Bennett found himself scrambling left and someone was able to pitch the ball forward to Mariota, who dived in for a two-yard score. For Oregon coaches, it had to be a hold-your-breath moment.

"What do you mean? That's exactly -- exactly! -- how we draw that up," UO offensive coordinator Mark Helfrich joked. "... That's our rule: If the quarterback is sort of open, force it."

If you think about it, it's not the worst idea. If something goes wrong, 95% of the time it will go out of bounds. Nice to have a safety valve.

On the aggressive ASU defense...“The thing that happens when you blitz, the band is gonna play. And, hopefully, it's gonna be our band playing, not theirs."

Max beat me to the punch, but I wanted to post this in here as well: (from the same CBS article)

"We've touched the mountain, but we really didn't quite reach the top yet," Kenjon Barner said when asked how much better this offense can get. "Marcus makes us extremely dangerous because defenses can't just key on one guy. You've got to key on ... " Barner said, rattling off the names of the Ducks stash of offensive playmakers.

But defenses really can't key on ALL those guys?

Barner broke into a big grin.

"Exactly."

I'm far too lazy to find it, but he's said something very similar in the past... Love this quote.

If you listened closely during the telecast one of the announcers borrowed this quote, I'm thinking it was Jesse.

If only it were true...

At the end of this weekend's ESPN broadcast of the Final Verdict, when Dr Lou's impassioned defense of Notre Dame's deserving to be in the BCS National Championship Game, when the moderator declared Oregon to be the best "team" after 'Bama, Lou said, "I Quit!"

"I've spoken to De'Anthony and told him, 'Guys are kind of keying on you, but we're still going to get you the ball,'" running backs coach Gary Campbell said. "And he said, 'Coach, I'm not worried about that at all.' - Oregonian

...listening to the Trojans' "Tribute to Troy" almost nonstop during practice inside the Moshofsky Center.

"It's Day 1 and I'm so tired of it already," redshirt freshman offensive lineman Tyler Johnstone said. "It's going to give us fire down there; we're never going to want to hear that song again. No first downs, no touchdowns. ... It's the most annoying thing ever. We only played two other songs, so that's a total of six minutes that the fight song wasn't play in practice today. We were losing our minds. It was the worst thing ever."

Could not agree with the young Mr. Johnstone more.

I despise whatever it is they play after every first down. Talk about annoying. The only thing the usc band has ever played that I liked was "Tusk", which they stole from Fleetwood Mac.

Sadly Tusk is tied to USC as much as it is to Fleetwood Mac (the USC marching band is the horn section, and they are featured in the music video). It bugs me that USC gets to call that their song, but it won't stop me from listening to it :)
Getting OT here, but ... when the bass kicks in at about 1:10 in the album version ... well, that's one of those goose bump moments. Lindsay Buckingham = major, major talent. His stuff is so damn original.

That is one of the few things I do like about USC. Oh, and when their song girls do things like this:

They're no Duck cheer leaders, but the girls do have their good points.
