Well if they're both waiting on alkins decision, then that doesn't bode well for us no matter what alkins does. If either wanted to come to Oregon, there is nothing holding them back from doing it. Sounds like no matter the decision bowen either ends up at AZ or DePaul and Johnson ends up at either AZ or North Carolina. Granted of course the rumor that bowen a final two are indeed AZ and DePaul. Losing out on both would hurt, not many good caliber players left on the market to bring in, especially when AZ gets one of the two. Here's to hoping rumors are false.

Bowen has been delaying his decision for months. He was doing it way before we were in on him, and he'll probably continue to do it for as long as he can. I wouldn't read too much into anything at this point. Seems like we have as good a shot as anyone at Bowen.

Or he's just waiting on the NBA draft prospects to figure out what they're going to do. Michigan State was the favorite to land bowen until Bridges announced he was coming back. Now it looks like he's waiting on Alkins. It's looking like we get neither at this point. Really hope I'm wrong, but the way it looks isn't good for us.

Yes. He is reclassified to 2018 already.

I really think you're trying too hard to read the tea leaves on this one, when the kid has already had the most drawn out, dramatic recruitment history of the cycle.

People were saying MSU and Arizona were both out when Bridges and Trier announced they were both returning. It wouldn't make sense to say MSU is out, but Arizona isn't. Both of those guys are likely all americans, and they both play Bowen's position.

I think he probably ends up at Depaul, but I wouldn't argue with all of the experts that are saying it's down to us and Depaul, with Creighton in a distant 3rd. I can't see him going anywhere that he's going to have to battle for the spotlight.

This is the most recent thing I've read about Bowen, posted yesterday by Gary Randazzo, Arizona's 247 expert. Generally pretty plugged in and accurate with his recruiting predictions. In response to someone asking him why he hadn't logged a crystal ball pick for Bowen:

"I had some international travel that kept me off the recruiting trail during the key month of April evaluations. As such, I have some sources, but always like to have more firsthand knowledge in decisions like that. In short, I had my finger on the pulse for a long while, but not talking to players firsthand and then making predictions is something I try to avoid. That said, I do think that Oregon will in fact be his final destination, but again this is info I'm getting from sources who are not entirely connected to Bowen."

Everything I'm reading says us or Depaul.

Which is interesting, because it sounds like he might be waiting to see what Alkins does first. So that tells me Zona is still in it.

Man all this experts talk is so weird. These are high school kids.... I hope he picks us but there's no science here, thus no experts.

Even experts can be wrong. They're "experts" based on the facts that they have connections and insider knowledge of what COULD happen. It's the closest you can be to an expert when it comes to predicting this stuff. They're right more than they are wrong though.

If I were an "expert" I'd be right most of the time by saying, "I think (insert recruit's name) will end up at (insert name of most "prestigious" school recruiting him) but don't count out (any other major offer) and (another major offer)."

Wait, what? You can't be an expert in anything that isn't purely scientific? Weird line of thought.

We call them experts because they're plugged in. They talk to coaches (AAU/high school/college), family members, and the players themselves. They have their fingers on the pulse. Pretty ridiculous to just dismiss them. Makes me wonder why you're even in this thread with that kind of attitude.

But if you want quantifiable data, the guy that I quoted had about a 75% success rate with his crystal ball picks last year.

And there are no expert financial advisors, or weathermen, or cancer doctors because they aren't perfect either.

Slow down, bud. I meant in this situation, the only way to have inside info is to chase around a bunch of teens and their families and bug them. We talk about their recruitment like it's one of those video games where interest is a standardized unit of measure and directly responsive to outside forces. It just sounds weird when you remember what's actually happening.

The reason I followed this thread was because I was excited to hear he was visiting and wanting to see if he'd committed. Not to hear what Joe Stalker thinks after talking to Bowen's best friend's 16 year old girlfriend at a party at her parents' house.
