Stanford wins, 78-65. The Ducks had a terrible time with 9 point leads; had one to start the game, Stanford tied that up with an 11-2 run. Ducks got it back together, and MKA was loud, as the Ducks ended the first half up 9, 41-32. But the Cardinal took care of that lead, holding the Ducks to 13 in the third quarter, while they tallied 25, to lead 57-54.
Brittany McPhee had 3 points in the first half, but ended the game with 33. Sabrina Ionescu finished with 22 points, 7 assists and 7 rebounds. Early in the game. Oregon had control and it was a game of transition. But when Stanford took over it became a contest of half court efficiency and Oregon couldn't keep up.
This was a game where not having Lexi Bando definitely hurt the Ducks, Stanford's D focused on the paint, harassing Hebard, and cutting off the driving lanes, leaving 3's open, but the Duck that took the most of them was Satou Sabally, who went 1-8. Sabally also looked like the freshman she is on defense, often drifting through, not knowing her assigned player or space. The loss puts Oregon and Stanford in 1st, at 10-2. They will probably be joined there Monday night after when 10-1 UCLA plays 5-6 USC.
