This. Plus Duarte is playing like a star. Even the games where they're not letting him get his shots off, he's still killing it on defense and getting others involved in offense. He's one of the best in college basketball at what he does.StevensTechU wrote:Once Will Richardson rounded into form and Figueroa found his stroke deep, it really made this team go from 'scrappy underdog' to venerable college starting 5.mattc94 wrote:Sometimes I think people forget how good this team is. They legitimately have a great starting five. The best since the Final Four team.
All five starters average ten points or more and just blew out Iowa. Not saying things are going to be a cakewalk against USC. Who are probably favored. But still. This team is more a contender than the press is giving them credit for.

My west region is still good. Did 2 brackets in my homer one I picked Oregon. Other one I picked the zags.

I'll be honest. I didn't have UO going past Iowa in one of my brackets.duckfan96 wrote:My west region is still good. Did 2 brackets in my homer one I picked Oregon. Other one I picked the zags.

After going after the bracket again, I don't think Oregon meeting USC in the Sweet 16 is all that egregious since had things gone somewhat differently, Florida and Arkansas would have met in the Sweet 16.

That is a good argument, but there is a difference of degree. Aside from the fact that USC and Oregon were wildly underseeded, they were the top two finishers in the conference. The SEC had six teams get in to the Pac 12's five, and the committee protected Alabama by moving them to the East, while Arkansas is in the South. So the two best teams wouldn't meet each other until the championship game, which is as it should be. Florida finished fifth in the SEC standings, so less of a threat to advance.

I think at some point they have to, just for rotational and defensive reasons. Obviously it will be probably to give Eugene a breather and wear down USC's bigs.duckfan96 wrote:Will big Franck get more pt? I think he should, but I am no coach.

After doing some reading on the subject, the problem boiled down to BYU. The no sunday part plays havoc with seedings and forces the committee to put them in on of two regionals. On top of that, the no playing int he first two rounds only applies if they played twice in the regular season, and USC was played only once.greenyellow wrote:After going after the bracket again, I don't think Oregon meeting USC in the Sweet 16 is all that egregious since had things gone somewhat differently, Florida and Arkansas would have met in the Sweet 16.

Pathetic. Lawson and Figueroa look horrible. Richardson is playing WAY to timid.
