Tony Stubblefield to become DePaul HC

Post by greenyellow »

Looks like Altman is going to have to replace his lead assistant and right hand man in Tony Stubblefield to DePaul for their head coaching vacancy. He'll be a big loss in recruiting and development.

Great coaches always have good coaching trees. Happy for Stubblefield. Great coach. Hope he succeeds. And I am sure Altman will replace him with somebody up to the task.

That’s a big bummer, Stubblefield has been with DA for a long time. Good luck to him!

Some names mentioned on the Autzen Audibles podcast as potential replacements:
USC assistant Jason Hart: https://usctrojans.com/sports/mens-bask ... -hart/5091
UTRGV assistant Kenya Crandell: https://goutrgv.com/sports/mens-basketb ... ndell/2577
UIC assistant Ron Coleman: https://uicflames.com/sports/mens-baske ... oleman/833
Virginia Tech assistant Chester Frazier: https://hokiesports.com/staff-directory ... razier/374

Other names thrown out there were former Ducks like Aaron Brooks (who's currently working for the New York Knicks) and Freddie Jones (who worked for Altman's on the Final Four team.) Prehm was saying this was a position that could be filled quickly or get drawn out for a couple months as Altman's last assistant coaching position was open for nearly 4 months before Mennenga was hired.
