Marder signs with Mariners
Well... damn. Truly thought he'd come back for one more year.

A lot of Oregon's proven bats and gloves are now gone but it does open up opportunities for others.

Re: Marder signs with Mariners
I like Marder, I really do.
But he also hit .209 last year. We're not exactly going to be missing a productive bat. Brett Hambright filled in admirably for 5-6 weeks last year when Marder broke his hand, and hit .261. Hambright was also much better defensively, being a natural catcher. He didn't have a single passed ball or throwing error in 21 starts (30 games total).
There's some buzz that sophomores Aaron Jones (formerly of RF) and Steven Sabol (formerly of LF/3B) might catch next year. I think Eshleman is still around for one more year.

The .209 sounds about right for the Mariners, they could use his bat.
