Sounds like they won't/can't really ever drop Navy. If it wasn't for navy ND would have been out of business during WWII. ND student population was so low during those years they where about to shut down when Navy stepped in and started sending Midshipmen to take class at ND. ND owes them a ton.
Also ND wants to play at least one game a year on the west coast so they can be a national program, that's why SC and the tree will remain on the schedule.
