90 Power Forwards

Post by Zyme »

Top 5 PFs
Derrick Coleman B C D+ B- B- A

One of the most NBA ready players in this draft. The Orangemen of Syracuse may have only made the Sweet Sixteen, but dont blame Coleman, he had 18 and 13 with four blocks. The 6'10" Coleman is one of the new breed. Though not as prolific as Sabonis on the outside, the mold is of the same ilk as Derrick works well down low but also has range from the midrange and the occasional outside look to keep defenders honest. Generates a fair number of turnovers on defense. Wowed scouts at the combine, expecially when he showed off his chisled physique. Some scouts feel he has the potential to rival Barkley for AS game slots.

Loy Vaught B+ C- D C+ C+ B

The michigan star has the most polished inside game of anyone in this class. Has a great bag of tricks to out work opponents to establish early position in the post. Once there he drove his opponents crazy with repeaded pumpfake that got the best of them into the air leading to easy makes. Does a great job filling the box score. Defends well down low but struggles when he gets switched to outside shooters like SFs or SGs. Solid potential.

Alec Kessler C+ B+ D- C C+ B

One of the new breed of post players, playing from the outside in. His game reminded scouts of a young Jack Sikma. Has a bit of a flat shot, but looks better as he steps further out as the natural arc increases. Struggles to hold onto the ball at times. Equally good at boxing out and working for the offensive boards. Scouts loved his attitude during the combine, looking to take and make shots, especially againt more touted "traditional" post players.

Tyrone Hill C+ C- C C+ B- B

Between Hill and Brian Grant, Xavier walked to a Midwestern Collegiate Conference regular season title. The twin towers guided the musketeers to a Sweet Sixteen berth. Despite this Hill aquitted himself throught the turnement and showed up huge at the combine, showing the ability to play straight up, take no chances, defense (even Vaught looked frustrated when Hill refused to bite on his trademark pump fake). While he may not be considered a top pick, nor even the highest potential in the class, scouts agree that he has a great head on his shoulders, showing great maturity throughout the whole draft process.

Greg Foster C+ C- D+ C+ C+ B

Started his career with Jim Harrick and UCLA, before moving to Don Haskins and UTEP. Both instilled a level of discipline and work ethic rarely seen. He does a little of everything you look for on defense. Not turnover prone with an acceptable jump shot. While scouts are torn on how well his game will transition to the pros, they all agree that you cannot play such talented coaches and and not take something away.

Other Power Forward prospects:

Terry Mills C+ B- C C C+ B

A SG in a PF body. Scouts were concerned he looked poor positionally as he gambled on a ton of steals.

Anthony Cook C+ C- D- C+ C+ C

Solid post defense with very quick hands in addition that frustrated oponents trying to pump fake against him. Scouts got very little look at him outside of scrimages as he opted out of the drills, leading to the low grading.

Elden Campbell C+ C- F+ C+ C A

Very talented young player out of Clemson. Talks a huge game and is not afraid to challenge very shot coming his way. Great body with room to grow.

Jerrod Mustaf C+ C- C C+ A

Solid rebounder with very good potential.

Danny Ferry B- C+ D C C A

Great scorer that has never seen a shot he didn't like.
