1997 Shooting Guards

Damon Jones PG 6'5'' 190 23 C+ C+ C+ C C A
Jones is listed at PG, but I made a decision to list his notes at SG, may play both, D is a C MINUS at SG
Jones has a great jump shot, is a crafty scorer, and a good rebounder. There are some concerns from scouts though, as to his ability with his size to handle the point at the next level....he struggles with finding the open man. Despite his size, he easily can handle the quickness thrown at him by opposing PG's, but just doesn't show the talent defensively that you would hope for. 3 Point shooting is a work in progress, but overall shows promise as an offensive oriented PG, and as an SG, would take care of the ball pretty well, with above average playmaking for a wing and nice rebounding.

Alberto Herreros SG 6'5'' 230 25 C+ B+ D+ C- C- A
The first thing you will notice is Alberto is 25...so he is a bit older than your standard practice rookie, but also this means he comes in pretty polished. Scouts still feel there is room to grow, but there is also concern overseas he developed some poor habits....one of which is exceedingly obvious, coming from Spain, he is a big fan of the matador style defense. The problem is, while he loves to swipe atthe ball from behind as his matchup drives past, he is not particularly good at actually getting the ball, and is absolutely atrocious at everything else on that side. Great shooter though.

Antonio Daniels SG 6'4'' 195 22 C C+ C+ C+ D+ A
Antonio is a combo guard, a bit big to play the one, but a bit small to play the two. A lot of room to grow in his game, coming out of Bowling Green, he shows good form on his shot, and promise as a perimeter defender. Handling ability at PG is a big question, overall room to grow, and he will need time.
Alain Digbeu SG 6'6'' 220 22 C+ C+ C C+ C A
Coming out of France, Digbeu could teach Herreros a thing or two about playing matador style defense, he is very good at it, creating the steal quite often....though still leaving his man a free lane to the hoop on the numerous times he fails. Overall, Digbeu shows proimis. Offensively he is solid, takes care of the ball, really quick, good rebounder. Positional D is crappy, but scouts like him, not great potential, but good potential, and should develop into a useful player.

Oded Kattash SG 6'4'' 185 23 C+ B- C- C C- B
Should be an excellent backup 2/3, especially on teams looking to add some punch to the bench. There is concern as to how his game will translate, he is pretty well polished already, and thats lessened where scout's place his ceiling, but still, solid aroundthe hoop, a solid jumpshot and developing three point range means he has a place.

Charles O'Bannon SG 6'5'' 209 22 B- C C- C+ D B
The better O'Bannon brother...which isn't saying much...since I cut his brother before he played out his 2nd round contract earlier this year. O'Bannon should be a useful player. He is a mediocre rebounder, and struggles with handles, that holds him back, HOWEVER, he shows a knack for posting up smaller guards, and finishing around the hoop in general, combined with a good jump shot, and solid positional defense for his age. Not particularly flash, unlike his flash in the pan brother who flamed out at the next level, O'Bannon should find a place, and contribute for a long time to come. A few scouts even place him as a future staple starter.

So best shooting guard turns into a journey man? Or should we expect what was described of Anderson?

The prospect's stats have not changed, the name on the label has.
