2004 PG's

Post by Brophdog88 »

Sasha Vujacic PG 6'7'' 193 20 C C+ C+ C D A: He's tall, with promise as an NBA PG. He shows solid quickness given his size, and some promise as a defender to boot, though he gets burned by PG's going to the rim all the time. You would think, given his size, he would be a much better rebounder, but he is pretty poor, choosing instead to try to leak out and get the break going. He keeps his dribble low, and doesn't take risks with the ball. His range extends to about 20 feet, anything past that....well, he shouldnt be shooting from there, he might catch a corner three from time to time, but nothing else. He will get pushed around by nearly every PG in the league, his strength is poor, but while he doesn't finish well after contact, he does show craftiness in avoiding contact in the first place, and finishes pretty good there.

Devin Harris PG 6'3'' 185 21 C C C+ B- D+ A: Harris, like Ridnour, is going to be more of a caretaker PG. He isn't going to wow you with scoring, but at his size, he handles himself well on the defensive end, and shows similar handles to Nelson, with better passing ability. He shows poor offensive skills though, with a mediocre outside game and inside game.

Sebastian Telfair PG 6'0'' 165 19 C+ C+ C+ C C- B: Already known around basketball circles after being involved in a book and documentary about his high school career. Telfair comes out of high school looking to make a name for himself at the next level. A pretty good passer, with a very nice jump shot, Telfair is promising. He shows an ability to get inside and score, and promise that this part of his game could develop. He is pretty small though, getting pushed around pretty easy by other bigger PG's, and just plain stronger PG's. Another worry is, he tends to get a bit dramatic with his passes, and that can lead to sloppy play. His three point shot is a work in progress as well. Scouts have seen more of Telfair than most high schoolers, but still aren't all that sure how his ego will play out at the next level.

Jameer Nelson PG 6'0'' 192 22 C C+ C C+ C- A:If you are looking to find the best PG in this years draft....this may be your stop. Nelson isn't flashy, and he fits the mold of a scoring point more than most usual PG prospects, but he shoots a pretty good jumper and is already an ok positional Defender. Being older, his ceiling is more limited, but with that comes a more polished game. He has maybe slightly below average, if that, handles, but shows room to grow, and is likely going to be a starter long term, albeit likely not a star.

Luke Ridnour PG 6'2'' 175 23 C- C+ C+ C D+ A: (His outside is C on file, that will be fixed.) Ridnour is a promising PG, but not as a full time dominant starter. Instead, look to him as your care taker. He has good handles, knows where to make the passes, and has a really good jump shot. The bad news is, while he has College three point range, he did struggle in three point shooting at NBA distances in predraft workouts, and scouts aren't sure just where he will land with that, combine that with his lack of ability to finish inside and he won't be a big offensive threat.. He isn't going to be a great defender, he has solid height, and can actually play decent positional D when he puts effort into it, but thats not all that often and he won't get you steals. A GM looking for a solid caretaking game manager would be smart to pick Ridnour, a team looking for a future star PG? look elsewhere.
