2005 SGs

Post by UOducksTK1 »

Very thin class, but some potential.

Monta Ellis SG 6'3'' 175 20 B- C C B- C- A: Monta's stubbornness has always been his greatest weakness. Ever since moddle school, coaches have been trying to push him to develop his PG skills, to help give him a better chance to thrive. Instead, he's an undersized SG with no outside game. But! It's not the end of the world. While Ellis isn't going to be the next Allen Iverson, he does have a very strong offensive game, and loves to play the passing lanes on defense. He's pesky and quick, and still has some potential to grow. PG ineligible.

Nate Robinson SG 5'9'' 180 21 B- C C C C- A: Nate Robinson vs Gerald Green in the dunk contest. I already bought my tickets. Despite being a whole foot shorter, Robinson doesn't shy away from attacking the rim. Robinson has great quickness, which is a strong advantage for him on defense and makes up for his smaller frame. Robinson is another SG who really should have developed his PG skills, but his mindset is on attacking only (and therefore PG ineligible). And it's actually worked out OK for him so far.

Rashad McCants SG 6'4'' 207 21 B- B C- B- D+ C: Another well developed tar heel ready to hit the ground running. McCants ability to score from anywhere on the court has really blown away scouts. He's deceptively quick and athletic. Usually with scorers, they invest all their time on one side of the court, only to neglect their defense. But this isn't the case with McCants, he can hold his own on defense. Growth isn't as great as some others in this class, but I'll tell you right now, he won't just flop within the first couple TCs.

Calvin Miles Jr. SG 6'6'' 210 18 C+ B- D+ C- C- A:
Also known as CJ, Miles is very raw still. He really lacks an understanding of the game. He never gets other players involved, he's always out of position on defense, and his IQ is below average. Ironically enough, Miles best asset is as a free throw shooter. He's definitely a risky pick, and could end up being a wasted first round pick. But all scouts agree that his scoring ability is the best and is enough to warrant a high pick.

Do Not Fear. Isaiah 41:13
