Re: 2017 Projected Depth Chart
Are you referencing our kickers or our returners? I do agree with the retuners, but I am confident in our kicking game. Aidan is a great kicker and I wish he was born earlier so we did not have to see the disaster of Maldonado. Also I have complete faith in Stack as our punter. Anything is better than Ian Wheeler and his 30 yard punts with half a second hang time.UOducksTK1 wrote:I hope our special teams does something this year. Definitely a meh year compared to usual.

Re: 2017 Projected Depth Chart
Yep, seems like a good guy but he's just guessing. His only real knowledge base is coaching H.S. RB's. Not evaling' next level talent or coaching in complex schemes.buckmarkduck wrote:Maybe mud knows, but nothing against him, he seems like a good guy. That said his only source was Pellum and Greatwood, and both are long gone. I'm 100% positive he's guessing, just like all of us right now.Phenom wrote:Mud from 247 just said he's moving to Will.
The 3-4 doesn't utilize both OLB's on every down at the line of scrimmage. Depending upon the front, he'll have zone, contain and more traditional LB gap responsibilities. Dye is a great blitzer as well, so sending him from the "WOLB" spot or 7tech is perfect.
The ILB's in this defense need to handle the A-gaps and scrape. This means taking on OL every down directly (while holding gaps)which would negate some of his greatest strengths when he is perfect for WOLB(Will) responsibilities, contain, the flat, blitz, etc.

Matt Mariota moved to TE, makes that four for that position.

Is it possible that Braxton would get some playing time? I see he is redshirted but being a taggert recruit may be in Braxton's favor. He's an EE right?

Re: 2017 Projected Depth Chart
It's certainly possible. He's already a better passer than Wilson or Jonsen.duxforlyfe wrote:Is it possible that Braxton would get some playing time? I see he is redshirted but being a taggert recruit may be in Braxton's favor. He's an EE right?

Nelson had some pretty good kick returns. Our punt returns were pretty mediocre but I liked how Mitchell looked at the end of the year.

The issue isn't our returners, it's the blocking detail and focus....Phenom wrote:Nelson had some pretty good kick returns. Our punt returns were pretty mediocre but I liked how Mitchell looked at the end of the year.

QB: Justin Herbert, Terry Wilson Jr.
RB: Royce Freeman, Tony Brooks-James/Kani Benoit
WR: Darren Carrington II, Malik Lovette
TE: Jacob Breeland, Ryan Bay/Cam McCormick
LT: Brady Aiello, Tyrell Crosby/Logan Bathke
LG: Shane Lemieux, Evan Voeller/Sam Poutasi
C: Jake Hanson, Doug Brenner/Zach Okun
RG: Jake Pisarcik, Valentino Daltoso
RT: Calvin Throckmorton, Jacob Capra
WR: Charles Nelson, Darrian McNeal
WR: Dillon Mitchell, Dylan Kane/Alex Ofodile
DE: Jalen Jelks, Elijah George/Hunter Kampmoyer
DT: Gary Baker, Jordon Scott
DE: Henry Mondeaux, Gus Cumberlander
OLB: Jonah Moi, Bryson Young
ILB: Danny Mattingly, A.J. Hotchkins
ILB: Troy Dye, Kaulana Apelu/Blake Rugraff
OLB: Jimmie Swain, La'Mar Winston Jr./Keith Simms
CB: Arrion Springs, Ugochukwu Amadi
CB: Tyree Robinson, Ty Griffin/Thomas Graham Jr.
S: Brenden Schooler, Brady Breeze
S: Khalil Oliver, Mattrell McGraw/Juwaan Williams
Offensively, no real surprises. Crosby off the bench will change as he gets back to 100%.
DT position and the LB positions opposite of Swain and Dye will be probably the most intriguing battles going into the spring. I feel like Mattingly has been a bust so far, but maybe under the right system with the right coaches he can have a big year.

I also think Graham moves up the charts. With a new staff nothing will surprise me. Everyone
is back to square one and on an even footing. The best player will play.
