Chips staff...

Post by Diehardduckfan »

What's the predictions for his staff...certainly Azzinaro but who else? The whole former Duck staff that was fired? Greatwood? Campbell? Neal? Helfrich? Gotta think he goes a new direction with some of his staff. Chins is probably staying with Frost but who knows...

Greatwood (59), Azz(59), Campbell (66) and Neal (60) are all pretty old. Greatwood and Azz work for Cal.

It would be shocking to see Pellum get another FBS job. Neal too. Those Helfrich defenses were historically bad.

Frost will likely want to retain Chinander; UCF might want to promote him to HC. Chins is the most in-demand member of Chip's past staffs, other than Frost; does UCLA have the budget to make him a competitive offer?

Helfrich and Chip had an enormous amount of success working together--and neither of them have replicated that success in the others' absence. The downfall of Helfrich's Oregon teams being mostly due to the defense works in Helfrich's favor, as he'd most likely be looked at as an OC. He's the only former offensive coach from Chip's staffs that is the right age and that doesn't have a much better job lined up. And since Helfrich doesn't have a current coaching job and is still being paid by Oregon, so he might be willing to take the job on the cheap. He reportedly interviewed at Alabama after getting fired, so it seems like he still wants to coach.

Honestly....as a true DUCK fan, I could care less who Chucky Buckles hires on his staff! I'm appreciative of what he helped build here at Oregon....but he's in the rear view mirror. CK works for the dark side now (UnderARModer))....hope his new program crashes & burns. Just sayin'.....

He got a job on the staff because of his connection with Frost.

And he'll likely continue following Frost around until he decides to strike out on his own.

Nope. He was a grad assistant at Oregon, through his connection with Frost from Northern Iowa (I believe), and when Chip left he got a staff position there. When Aliotti retired and a position opened up, Helf hired him back. All started with knowing Frost from the midwest.

2004–2009 Northern Iowa (TE/RC) (with Frost)
2010–2012 Oregon (GA)
2013 Philadelphia Eagles (ADL)
2014-2015 Oregon (OLB)
2016–present UCF (DC)

Pretty sure they were roommates in Eugene when Chins was a GA and Frost the Receiver Coach

Per FootballScoop, it sounds like Chip will keep 3 members from Mora's staff: WR coach Jimmy Dougherty, RB coach DeShaun Foster, and OL coach Hank Fraley.

UCLA has had a pretty terrible O Line. Surprised that Chip is keeping him.

Was hard for me to picture Greatwood in Los Angeles. Pretty sure he'd hate it there. Berkeley isn't quite so urban.
