Looking back at the 2029 Lottery
Since the 2029 draft is currently in the last year of their Rookie deals, it's time to look back and see who got good value out of their pick's initial 4 year deal (I will not take trades into account, simply the value the player drafted provided all numbers through day 30).
1. Indiana Pacers | Jordan Lowery. SF 6'7'' 237 18 B A- C B C- B
Now: Jordan Lowery SF 21 6'7'' 237 A- A- C- B+ C C
Career to Date:
264 Games Played 33.3 MPG
27.5 PPG, 5.2 RPG, 2.5 APG, 1.5 SPG, 0.5 BPG, 2.5 TOPG
.467/.410/.820 shooting splits
Won ROTY and was 1st team All-Rookie
The best player from this lottery on draft night has been the best player in performance. A top scorer who is decently well rounded and not too turnover prone. He's a star to me, and given his age could develop into an All-NBA type player (though SF is tough).
2. Houston Rockets | Christian Jones PG 6'2'' 195 21 C B+ B- B- C- A
Christian Jones PG 24 6'2'' 195 C- A- B+ B+ C C
Career to Date:
259 Games Played 32.3 MPG
17.8 PPG, 5.0 RPG, 7.4 APG, 1.7 SPG, 0.4 BPG, 3.5 TOPG
.461/.416/.858 shooting splits
1st Team All Rookie.
A strong starting PG, a bit turnover prone, but an efficient deep shooter, good rebounder for the position. PG is deep, but he deserves to be a starter, so decent value at 2 if not amazing.
3. Charlotte Hornets | Amir Cousins PF 6'10'' 249 18 B+ C C B C A
468 Amir Cousins PF 21 6'10'' 249 A- C C B C+ B
Career to Date:
226 Games Played, 32.5 MPG
17.5 PPG, 9.3 RPG, 3.0 APG, 1 SPG, 1.2 BPG, 1.77 TOPG
.421/.260/.734 shooting splits
1st Team All Rookie
A good starting big man, lacks efficiency, but good passing and rebounding for the position. If he can improve efficiency still has a shot at being a "star" solid value at #3.
4. Detroit Pistons | Hendrix Frye C 6'10'' 222 20 C+ C C- C+ C+ A
Hendrix Frye C 23 6'10'' 222 C+ C C A- B+ B
Career to Date:
276 Games Played, 23.6 MPG
6.3 PPG, 7.6 RPG, 1.6 APG, 0.3 SPG. 1.1 BPG, 1.2 TOPG
.395/.160/.546 shooting splits
A mediocre bench big thus far, provides rebounding and rim protection but pretty useless on the other end. Very disappointing for the #4 slot.
5. Minnesota Timberwolves | Zion Wade SG 6'5'' 218 21 C+ C+ C+ B- C- A
Zion Wade SG 24 6'5'' 218 C+ B- B B+ C- C
Career to Date:
253 Games Played, 17.1 MPG
5.9 PPG, 2.5 RPG, 2.1 APG, 0.9 SPG, 0.2 BPG, 1.4 TOPG
.436/.371/.768 shooting splits
Bench guard, has seen decreasing minutes the last 3 seasons, though decent shooting splits might convince his next team he can break out late. Still, generally hope for more than a decent bench guard out of the top 5.
6. San Antonio Spurs | Rassell Young PF 6'9'' 241 22 B- C C- B- C+ A
Rassell Young PF 25 6'9'' 241 B+ C C- B- B C
Career to Date:
233 Games Played, 26 MPG
6.6 PPG, 7.0 RPG, 1.2 APG, 0.6 SPG, 0.6 BPG, 1.3 TOPG
.367/.115/.629 shooting splits
Moved from starting to bench big, generally not very good, solid rebounder, but no rim protection not much offense, still time for a breakout, but thus far disappointing for #6.
7. Atlanta Hawks | Chidi Nwigwe C 6'10'' 203 22 B- D- C A- B B
Chidi Nwigwe C 25 6'10'' 203 B D- C A- B B
Career to Date:
267 Games Played, 25.7 MPG
7.5 PPG, 8.0 RPG, 2.1 APG, 0.8 SPG, 2.6 BPG, 1.7 TOPG
.380/.000/.560 shooting splits
A strong shot blocking, rebounding center. Not an offensive force by any stretch, but he brings what you need everywhere else. Not much more you can ask for at #7.
8. Vancouver Grizzlies | Isaiah Barnes SF 6'8'' 213 20 C B- C A- C- A
Isaiah Barnes SF 23 6'8'' 213 C B C- A- D+ C
Career to Date:
85 Games Played, 9.5 MPG
2.2 PPG, 1.5 RPG, 0.4 APG, 0.5 SPG, 0.1 BPG, 0.3 TOPG
.459/.412/.720 shooting splits
Almost every minute came in his rookie year, small sample splits look decent, but went to the bench and never came back, even after a team change. Looks like a true bust.
9. Indiana Pacers (from Bulls) | Tylis Jordan PG 6'1'' 196 21 C C+ C+ C+ C- A
Now Tylis Jordan PG 24 6'1'' 196 C B+ A- B- C- B
Career to Date:
90 Games Played, 13.1 MPG
5.0 PPG, 1.8 RPG, 2.7 APG, 0.5 SPG, 0.1 BPG, 1.5 TOPG
.452/.455/766 shooting splits
Spent second and third year without playing a minute before returning to the backup PG spot this season, turnover a concern, but a sniper from 3 will be interesting to see if the shooting earns him a bigger role.
10. Cleveland Cavaliers | Kamden Stone SG 6'7'' 222 21 C B C A- C B
Kamden Stone SG 24 6'7'' 222 C A C+ A- C B
Career to Date:
268 Games Played, 32.7 MPG
8.8 PPG, 5.2 RPG, 2.3 APG, 1.6 SPG, 0.5 BPG, 1.6 TOPG
.457/.438/.904
1st Team All-Rookie
Decent low volume scorer as a starter, transitioned to the bench this year, likely his best place going forward, not a homerun at 10, but also not a bust, kind of player you can always use on the roster.
11. Los Angeles Lakers | Kris Banwareesingh C 7'2'' 260 20 C D D- B B- A
Kris Banwareesingh C 23 7'2'' 260 C+ D+ D- A- C+ B
Career to Date:
261 Games Played, 22.9 MPG
5.3 PPG, 7.2 RPG, 1.0 APG, 0.7 SPG, 1.7 BPG, 1.1 TOPG
.427/.000/.521 Shooting splits
1st Team All-Rookie
Solid rotation big, no real offense but a good defender and rebounder who won’t hurt too bad with turnovers, on his second team. Not what you necessarily hope for in the lottery, but actually good value given history in the 11-14 range.
12. New Jersey Nets (from Jazz) | Dezman Briscoe PF 6'11'' 319 21 B C+ D+ B C+ B
Dezman Briscoe SF 24 6'11'' 319 B B- D+ A- B- B
Career to Date:
247 Games Played, 31.0 MPG
14.5 PPG, 6.4 RPG, 1.8 APG, 1.3 SPG, 0.5 BPG, 2.8 TOPG
.431/.345/.812 Shooting Splits
2nd Team All-Rookie
Back on the bench now, but for his 2nd and 3rd seasons he was a good shooting stretch 4, but had serious turnover issues, still a few seasons of 16/7 or better isn’t bad from the end of the lottery performed better than many players drafted before him.
13. New Jersey Nets | Lino Marks C 6'11'' 233 22 C C- D+ C+ B A
Lino Marks C 25 6'11'' 233 C C- C- C B+ B
Career to Date:
99 Games Played, 20.3 MPG
4.8 PPG, 6.2 RPG, 0.8 APG, 0.6 SPG, 0.3 BPG, 0.9 TOPG
..355/.000/.718 Shooting Splits
Almost all his minutes came from year 1, switched teams after that season, playing no games until year 4. A big who can rebound and not much else, not necessarily a bust, but nothing special either.
GENERAL THOUGHTS
Not a great draft, the 4-8 stretch in particular was rough, with only the #7 pick turning into a true impact talent. Still it's only 3.5 years in, sometimes the mid to late lottery has late bloomers.

IMO you should show current ratings too.

Lowery is still only 21 as well. You could argue he has 10 more prime seasons ahead of him
The talent drop off was huge outside the top 3

Re: Looking back at the 2029 Lottery
I got Jake Recasner at 21, guy has turned out to be quite the defensive big. His rebounding could be a bit better but 3 bpg is a nice grab at 21.

I signed Frye and Stone in FA.
They suck.
