Less than 10 wins and not making the NCAAs.
Stanford's graduating class was the #1 rated class and ended up with 3 national championships.
With that, it was still fun seeing Stone dominate slow middle blockers on the other side of the net!
Oregon volleyball's #2 rated recruiting class finishes...

Even more interesting, the recruiting class starting from '16, was ranked #2, #6, #25, #3 in the country.

Time to start ranking the rankers?

Any idea why all the players on those previous classes transferred out? The team this year was like 2 seniors, 1 sophmore and like 9 redshirt and true freshman.shoparound wrote:Even more interesting, the recruiting class starting from '16, was ranked #2, #6, #25, #3 in the country.
They seem to have fun and like the coaches. Maybe thats not as it appears. I know one of the highly ranked players transferred out because Brooke and the number1 recruit played her position but I never heard the story on the others.

Actually, looking at it there was only 1 freshmen on the roster 2017 that was during the coaching transition. In Ulmer's 2 classes of 18 and 19 only one of his recruits transferred out and she had 2 higher ranked recruits come in in front of her. So the big problem was having almost all first and second year players due to 3 of the old coaches recruits transferring out after the elite 8 year.
If Ulmer's players don't do better next year or transfer out then there might be an issue, but this year they kind of get a youth pass.

Rumor is they transferred because of playing time concerns...
The reason I'm a bit concerned is because, yes this team was young, but it's not like they weren't very highly rated coming out of high school.
Let's look at the starters
Setter: freshman Kylie Robinson (#8 highest ranked recruit in history)
OH1: soph Brooke Nuneviller (NCAA All American as a libero)
OH2: freshman Taylor Williams (#23 recruit)
MB1: senior Ronika Stone (#10 recruit, NCAA All American)
MB2: freshman Karson Bacon (#11 recruit)
OPP: senior Willow Johnson (#27 ranked recruit, NCAA All American)
Libero: freshman Georgia Murphy (#27 ranked recruit, one of the highest libero recruits in history)
Sometimes it takes a group a while to get going, but they never seem to get it together this year. You would think with these numbers each would be dominant in their positions.
And next year we lose two All American seniors.
