1987 top prospects scouting report

Post by jibbajabba614 »

Going to try this before drafts. Gives people an idea of how I start rating the file. No these aren’t notes, just more of a guide beforehand...

David Robinson
Nicknamed the Admiral. During his time at the Naval Academy, Robinson was never a highly regarded player. In 1986, Robinson led Navy, a number seven seed, within a game of the Final Four before losing to Duke. After that, David Robinson is considered to be a top prospect in the draft. Scores the ball well. Great rebounder. With consistent defensive playmaking and an ability to both score and pass out of the post, he should have a great DASL career.
Potential ratings: 3 Bs, 2 Cs, 1 A

Scottie Pippen
Pippen is another guy who didn’t have a house hold name coming out of High School. But after averaging 23.6 points, 10 rebounds, 4.3 assists as a senior, he elevated his stock to a top prospect in the draft. Great passer. Due to his size and length, he can get to the rim pretty quick. Pippen played PG most of his life, after a growth spurt after high school, Pippen moved to the wing. Can guard most power forwards. Look for him to bring an all around game.
Potential ratings: 3 Bs, 2 Cs, 1 A

Reggie Miller
Known as Miller Time. Clutch shooter who loves playing defense. At UCLA, his presence made them a more competitive team every time he stepped on the floor. Lacks the strength but makes up for it with his quickness. Good ball handler. Quick release. He finished second in all-time scoring at UCLA behind DASL legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Miller may just be the new age shooting guard teams would love to have abundance of.
Potential ratings: 3 Bs, 2 Cs, 1 A

Kenny Smith
Nicknamed the jet due to his lightning quick speed. He is lethal on the pull-up but he can make an impact when cutting to the basket, too. But for such a ball-dominant player, he is surprisingly efficient. Kenny Smith joined Michael Jordan as a freshman on a North Carolina team that ranked first with a 28–3 record. Smith averaged 9.1 points and 5.0 assists per game as a freshman. By senior year, he was putting 16ppg and 6apg. High energy point who can score or pass the ball.
Potential ratings: 3 Bs, 2 Cs, 1 A

Kevin Johnson
Nicknamed the mayor due to his abilities for scoring, passing and rebounding the ball. He won’t give you the 23 triple doubles like Magic does but he is an analytic machine. While at Cal, he also played baseball making him a very athletic player. Johnson is a swiss-army-knife who can do a little bit of everything on the floor.
Potential ratings: 3 Bs, 2 Cs, 1 A

5 of the top 8 are in the West, probably going there. For some odd reason I want the spurs to win the lottery here.
