MBB loses assistant Chuck Martin to Kentucky
After losing Armon Gates to Oklahoma, Altman has now lost assistant Chuck Martin to Kentucky. They both only lasted a season in Eugene. With the increase in assistants to 4, Altman only has Mike Mennenga officially on staff. Hopefully he's got some names in mind that'll actually stay here long-term and know how to work/recruit within Altman's preferred ways.

Sucks they keep bleeding assistant coaches. Has to hurt recruiting. Just my random take, but if the Ducks don’t have a good year, it would seem feasible Dana may just not want to deal with all this current crap, and I wouldn’t blame him. College HOF coach for sure, but the stressors are understandably massive. Especially after his end of season rant. Would totally get it.

Which is ironic, because Altman has historically had his assistants around for a long time. These last few seasons have been anything but norm for DA. Hopefully just a bump in the road and not anything more.

He still has Kevin McKenna around as Director of Player Development and brought back Brian Fish as Executive Director last season. I wonder if he promotes one of those guys to full assistant status again.UOducksTK1 wrote:Which is ironic, because Altman has historically had his assistants around for a long time. We have been pretty blah, wonder if Dana encouraged these guys to move on. We need a big upgrade in the assistant coaches.

Doesn’t make much sense, since he is going to Kentucky. Not exactly the place bad assistants end up because they sucked.buckmarkduck wrote:We have been pretty blah, wonder if Dana encouraged these guys to move on. We need a big upgrade in the assistant coaches.

Martin coached with Calipari at Memphis so there's the connection and likely not a case a case where Altman told him to hit the bricks.
