If my math is correct, Dowdell and Limar each played in their 5th game this season, thus burning their redshirts. Unless the rules have changed. (four games allowed per year) This seems like an interesting decision by Lanning.
Please let me know if my math is off, but I'm not sure why he would burn two redshirts for two players who have a really bright future with us.
Any thoughts?

Re: Question about Dowdell and Limar
A- with the Whittington injury, it was necessary to have a 3rd RB.
B- you can also lose guys in the Portal that you might like if you don't play them
C- you want to see who is ready for this level
D- you don't care about trying to max out a 4 year starter at RB because of recruiting

I love that Lanning seems very mindful and purposeful about getting young players rotated in. Preserving redshirt is a philosophy. But so does burning them and reloading every year. Think it sends a message to the young players that they have a role on the team and coach values them. Plus it's fun seeing so many making plays on the field already. I'm a fan.

With the transfer portal, you really can't assume you'll have guys for five years. That's the exception now.
I do like preserving a red shirt in case of injury, as well.
