Imagine what Sarkisian would do with the talent he would get at UCLA.

About what he's doing at U-Duh right now. UCLA has to make an internal decision on whether or not they want to be a football school or just a basketball school like Kansas. I know KU just hired Weis, but let's be real, he's gone in 2 years. Guerrero has to go and if I'm Sark, I've got a nice thing going for me up there right now.

You guys all know the scene.

"Thank You, Lord"

Seriously, they could not have picked a worse hire outside of randomly picking one us who would purposefully try to sabotage the job. :lol:

Mora = bad hire imo.

He hasn't really established success in the NFL, let alone College. Has no recruiting record to speak of.

They could have done a lot better I believe.

Getting Mora Jr. just seems like UCLA attempting to get a recognizable name to save some face. UCLA needed to go out and get a coach that understands the college game well and knows the recruiting landscape in LA, not someone like Mora Jr.

Also, if anyone says: "Well, look at Pete Carroll!"....well I'll just say that isn't too smart, and that was a shot in the dark by USC..

I think they're hoping that he'll turn out to be a Harbaugh type.

I had the same sort of feeling, this hire comes out of left field IMO. Not sure why hiring a guy with limited, if any, recruiting history would seem like a good hire at UCLA. Sad thing is, if UCLA put even a moderate amount of money into football facility upgrades and other infrastructure, they could be a powerhouse in relatively short order.

Hmm, replace Mora Jr name with Carrol in everything you guys are saying, and that exactly what people were saying in 2000 when SC hired him. That seemed to work ok for SuC.

Not all mediocre NFL coaches end up being Pete Carrol.

Mike Sherman and Dave Wannstedt come to mind right off the top of my head.

Wasn't Mora the original target in Washington but he turned them down and they ended up with Sark instead?

Hiring Jim Mora http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-spw-uc ... 0928.story is certainly getting a lukewarm reception from Bruin fans.

Mora is so much better of a hire than Sherman or Callahn it's not even funny. The guy is energetic well spoken and a great D coach and parents, alum and recruits will love him. He did good in Atl until Vick got him fired because Knapp wouldn't use Vick right. Seattle was a disaster, but that was only about 30% his fault and 70% the gm ruskells fault.

The guy may never have recruited per say, but just read how he recruited TJ Whoesurmomma to Seattle sometime, and you figure out he will be a formidable foe on the recruiting trail. If he brings in the right OC UCLA will be very good.
