Joe Paterno

Post by Duck07 »

Just saw a report that he has died. Certainly mixed emotions as a CFB considering everything that has gone on lately. I know for some it might be hard to separate the two but perhaps we can keep the "Ped State/Sandusky stuff" out of this.

Joe Paterno dead at 85

Cancer got him. I had a lot of contradictory emotions about him, but thoughts go out to the family.

I didn't think he would make it long after football but this is surprisingly fast.

According to ESPN though he is in serious condition....

RT @jeffskversky: A family spokesperson says in an email to @6abc that it's "Absolutely false" that Joe Paterno has passed away
Family spokesperson says reports are false?

Well that would explain why ESPN and SI haven't run the story yet...

Well, I've only seen it reported on sbnation and the huffpost so far so he could still be alive but it sounds like one of those "not for long" situations.

I think you're probably right. His sons' tweet doesn't sound too encouraging.
RT @JayPaterno: I appreciate the support & prayers. Joe is continuing to fight.
RT @ScottPaterno: CBS report is wrong - Dad is alive but in serious condition.  We continue to ask for your prayers and privacy during this time.

How can you separate the two? You have judge the man as a whole, you can't just ignore some of the things that have happened. He failed to report child molestation to the proper authority, and who knows how many more were molested because of it. He would've taken the secret to his grave had someone else not come forward with it.
