sounds like thomas was going to be reevaluated at the end of the week. it'd be great to get him back, but concussions and baseball can be tricky. okay, concussions and any sport can be tricky, but in baseball it seems like players either bounce right back or they're out for six months.

i've heard jones may return? obviously, that's the big fish in this line-up.

it'll be interesting to see if tessar comes back. i think gold will hold up better against cal's line-up than wazzu's. cougs could flat mash the ball, that was a tough match up.

i haven't heard squat an alto.

alto may pinch hit. neither will be available to play the field.

thomas will be evaluated today, should be a game time decision.

jones with an rbi single in the 3rd to tie things up.

cal going with an interesting strategy: they're throwing their #3 tonight, setting up a sunday game where we're throwing jeff gold against their ace. if they beat us tonight, we're in trouble.

reed holds cal to 2 runs over 7 innings, and thorpe and sherfy take care of the 8th and 9th. the offense does just enough to get bye -- thomas is the offensive mvp today.
