Not yet. There's been very little info on Obekpa's recruitment.Boom wrote:So has he visited it yet?

Nothing online or on pay sites, so not sure. I'd lean towards no though if nobody is reporting it.Boom wrote:So has he visited it yet?

This article was dated June 2nd...

"The 6-foot-9 shot-blocking sensation from Our Savior New American was named Player of the Year at IS8 after helping Team Flight win the IS8 Nike Spring Classic championship Saturday over the Rens Juniors, 92-83 in overtime."
"Obekpa tallied 15 points, 17 rebounds and 7 blocks in the semis and then tired somewhat before notching 4 points, 10 rebounds and 6 blocks in the final."

Oregon isn't recruiting him anymore. Sounds like he could end up at St. John's. Very strange recruitment.

All Oregon recruits end up at St. Johns then don't qualify or leave to the NBA shortly lol.

Does it seem Oregon under Altman has an inordinate number of players they suddenly quit recruiting?uostudent wrote:Oregon isn't recruiting him anymore. Sounds like he could end up at St. John's. Very strange recruitment.

Probably not since they just seem to recruit so many more players per year than most under Altman.maxduck wrote:Does it seem Oregon under Altman has an inordinate number of players they suddenly quit recruiting?uostudent wrote:Oregon isn't recruiting him anymore. Re: Obekpa Still Plans on Visiting
So we recruited 5 guards and only 1 big
Makes absolutely no sense considering we lost 3 to graduation this year
And Woods/Singler/Emory are entering their senior year.
Anyone else concerned?

Re: Obekpa Still Plans on Visiting
I know I am a bit. With only Carter and Keumper as the only bigs who'll be here past next year, Altman has sort of failed to get any type of depth for the future. The only reasons I think he's done this are he struck out too often or he's just didn't like many of the 2012 posts to go after them that hard. Kind of makes not going after Landen Lucas look like a bad decision.Boom wrote:So we recruited 5 guards and only 1 big

I know oregontrack would disagree
But passing on a 6-10, 225lb high character big man... who happened to be a big Oregon lean... makes absolutely no sense to me.

I still don't get it either. Passing on him to take long-shot chance on Bennett seems like a bad move indeed.Boom wrote:Incredibly badgreenyellow wrote:I know I am a bit. Re: Obekpa Still Plans on Visiting
It does get old seeing these guys come to Oregon or St Johns, then choosing to be a Johnnie... Of course, when half the stellar class fails to qualify or can't remain eligible into the second term of freshman year, what difference does it make?
