Oregon: Safety John Boyett led the Ducks with 108 total tackles, but you'd expect that number to go down because of the strength of the Ducks' front seven. Clay is a good pick to repeat as the defense's leader, but Kiko Alonso might eclipse him as he becomes a full-time starter inside.
Here are the leading tacklers -- calculated as per game average, not total tackles -- for each team. Bolded are returners.
Cort Dennison, LB, Washington: 9.8
Michael Clay, LB, Oregon, 9.3
Chaz Walker, LB, Utah, 9.1
Mychal Kendericks, LB, California: 8.2
Feti Unga, LB, Oregon State: 7.4
Dion Bailey, LB, USC: 7.4
Alex Hoffman-Ellis, LB, Washington State: 7.3
Jon Major, LB, Colorado: 6.5
Patrick Larimore, LB, UCLA: 6.2
Derek Earls, LB, Arizona: 6.2
Colin Parker, LB, Arizona State: 5.8
Jarek Lancaster, LB, Stanford: 5.4
