It could be close. China is doing better than expected in swimming and we have lost some that we were expected to win.lukeyrid13 wrote:Nah, we'll separate once track startsUOducksTK1 wrote:China is gonna get more medals than us.

US women's gymnastics wins the gold medal in the team competition. Phelps gets a silver in the 200-m butterfly, typically his strongest event, after gliding in instead of powering home with one final stroke. Allison Schmitt sets a new Olympic record in the 200-m freestyle while winning the gold medal.

Re: Olympics Thread
That is probably one of the most boring events to watch now since the Chinese win just about every gold medal. The events are really just there to see who can get silver and bronze behind the Chinese machine.RanDux wrote:The Chinese are just killing it in the diving.

Mariel Zagunis from Beaverton fails to medal in sabre (fencing, whatever).
She was up 12-5 in her semifinal match, and managed to lose 13-15. It was a really crazy comeback, and in the bronze medal game she seemed to completely fall apart.

Batum with 21 just now vs Lithuania and 14 and 7 vs Argentina. I agree that once track starts we will catch up to China or at least get it closer, we should also win both basketball golds.

Wow, she won the last 2 golds in this event, right? Such a bummer.frogsnouts wrote:Mariel Zagunis from Beaverton fails to medal in sabre (fencing, whatever).

Women's gymnastics scores are in... The result will make you smile and gnash your teeth, in the same breath.
Suffice to say, it's a 3-peat for the USA. It should be well worth watching tonight.

39 year old Kristen Armstrong from Boise took gold in the cycling time trial again. She is a great story. Retired, had a kid and then decided to come back to try to defend. Had a bad crash just 8 weeks ago and broke her Collar-Bone and had to have surgery for it and still won it. Tough gal - good person.

Oguchi 11 were second on his team behind Ike Diogu had 23 or something to lead them. "We were looking forward to this game, playing against the U.S.," Diogu said. "You know we wanted to use this to show the world what type of team we are. That didn't go too well obivously, I thought I saw Melo 37 were in only 14 minutes. I saw at one point he came down and hit 3 straight 3's. I watched a couple minutes ago Spain and Great Britain and saw Freeland had a nice spin move on Pau and also a hit a 3 when I watched, saw he had 25 as they almost upset Spain. Batum had 21 vs Lithuania with 7 boards and 3 blocks.
