Rumor about a JC big
Saw this on another board. Not admitted to USF although reportedly cleared by the NCAA.
And if social media activity is any indication, looks like junior college center Waverly Austin, a USF signee, could be headed to Oregon.

This would be a great pickup. I doubt he will be a star, but Oregon definitely does not have depth in regards to big men. If we get him and he's a consistent contributor, then I'll feel much better about Oregon's chances of making the NCAA tournament.
Going to miss the Maehl Man

His JC credits aren't acceptable at FSU but they are at Oregon??? Does that make sense?

Could be that not starting classes until late September helps Oregon.
Since Austin is eligible to play this season, the next question is where will he go? He has to make a decision quickly because many schools have already started and students can not enroll after a certain date. That decision may have already been made. Multiple sources have told us that Austin is all set to head to Oregon and play for the Ducks during the 2012-13 season. Check back soon for updates.

Anthony Bennett's HS credits didn't work for UO but he still got into school at UNLV. Schools can be weird with what they take and don't take.ducksvb6 wrote:His JC credits aren't acceptable at FSU but they are at Oregon??? Does that make sense?

“I’m looking for a program that has an up-tempo offense where I can come in and contribute immediately.”
This, from a kid who averaged 18 points, 10 rebounds and 3 blocks per game as a freshman, while shooting 59 percent from the field and 82 percent from the free throw line.

Definitely looks like he might be able to contribute...That is for sure...And since BB is a team sport, it would be great to give the kid a shot and to have him come on board...His size is quite attractive also...woundedknees wrote:“I’m looking for a program that has an up-tempo offense where I can come in and contribute immediately.”

Since he was a 2010 commit to USF, then ended up taking the JUCO route, I would guess Waverly is a 3 for 2 sorta guy.

Waverly Austin, per sources, is expected to head to Oregon. Austin is a 6-foot-10 juco big man who wasn't admitted to South Florida
