Favorite Baseball Team and why?

So my favorite time of year, besides the start of college football, is here.

I was wondering what everybody's favorite baseball teams were and why?

For me, its the Minnesota Twins. The 87 World Series was the first sporting event i followed with any interest and I had to chose a side. In Center field was a short, pudgy guy with wheels named Kirby. I have been a lifelong fan ever since.

St. Louis cardinals have been and always will be.
liked them since Bob Gibson was pitching. redsox are 2nd fav
team. Kirby was one of may fav players what a team guy
and good person.

San Diego Padres. I grew up in San Diego and still live here. I have remained loyal to my team despite the fact that they are terrible the majority of the time.

Seattle Mariners.. With Portland not having a professional baseball team, Seattle was the closest to being our home team.

So yeah, go Ms.

Braves...became a fan in the early '80's when Dale Murphy was in his prime. The biggest reason was because at the time no one was televised except the Braves and Cubs, other than the Saturday game of the week.

I'd get home from school at about 4pm and the game would come on 30 minutes later. I can't tell you how many meals my family had to watch in front of the TV because the Braves were on.

The fact that they're now the closest team to me is just gravy because I get to catch several games at year at Turner Field!

New York Yankees.. My whole family is from Massachusetts and we are divided between Red Sox and Yankees and I chose to go with the Yankees as my favorite player was Alfonso Soriano. When they first called him up from the minors and I got a chance to see him play as the 2B(that was the position I played) and how tiny he was but could swing a bat like no other. Thats when I was just getting into baseball and my team and player has stuck with me.

Red Sox My first Major league game was at Fenway

Oakland A's, gotta root for the local team, well maybe not technically, but it takes about as long to get to Seattle and then negotiate their inferior road systems.

Giants. My great-grand father was offer a contract to play for the NY Giants but stayed on the farm to help the family. Players didn't always make enough to help other family members.

My family members have been fans since. My uncle was offered a contract with the Dodgers but went on a 2 year mission instead. So glad he didn't become a Dodger!!!

Joe Mauer hit an homer in his first AB of the season. The AL Central is ours!!!! Minnesota Twins Kool-aid...its fantastic.
