Just received word that the Portland City Council approved the design for " Oregon" at the top of the sign at the UO Portland campus. It will still need Historic Landmark Commission approval. The revised sign will include "Old Town Portland" in yellow at the bottom. I haven't seen the design but reportedly it will have a green banner.

Some of the most creative minds in architecture and product design are in the studio directly below the sign maybe they will find a pattern of burned out lights in Old Town Portland that spell "ducks"

Seems to me that Oregon could have just let the City condemn the sign and take over ownership...And then told em to get their damn sign off of OUR building....Only to be replaced by a HUGE "O".....
However, I am sure it must not have been that simple..And no doubt any "New Rooftop Sign" would "have" to be approved by "You Know Who"....Like that would EVER happen...
So, in the spirit of compromise...We get what we can....
