So we've cleaned up arguably the two hardest games we had in Pac 12 play.
Now the question is, how good is this team and where are we going to finish?

LA sweep is really nice. Oregon really turned on the D late in the 2nd and finally got some buckets to start dropping.

Woods and Kazemi are amazing. Seeing our guys out-rebound every team they play is very satisfying. Thanks, Altman. Oregon basketball is back.

Great, great win. Not to spoil the party, but UDumb is coming in next weekend. Haven't seen them play this year. Anyone know how we match up?

Another impressive win for Oregon and Dana Altman. This team knows how to win close games which is something that they'll need to do with other schools looking to play us hard every night too.
Time to go sweep the washington schools!

What I love about Altman is this team does not give up.........ever. That's the difference.
They are scrappy and fight until the bitter end. Also, Artis & Dotson are going to be amazing.

Someone said when Altman was hired he couldn't coach or recruit.
It's even been said first of this year here. Wrong. Altman's players have
totally bought in to everything. They play so hard. Great effort. They have
grown so much this year. And they are getting even better as time goes by.
When one guy has a off day someone else picks it up. Great win today.

Hah, I know exactly who you're talking about. Most people on this board called that poster out though. Altman pushes this team to their limits, and they keep on responding. The scary thing is that I don't think Oregon has reached their peak as a team yet. Altman has been brutally honest about it as well. When Jerry Allen was talking about how great the team was after we swept the Arizona schools, Altman said he still wasn't satisfied and believed this team still had a lot of growing left to do. You gotta love hearing that from the HC, and he sets his own expectations.duckfan22 wrote:Someone said when Altman was hired he couldn't coach or recruit.

When everyone had given up on Oregon's chances of being competitive in his first season, he went out and got us 20 wins. Oregon had a ton of new players going into last season, and most thought it was a bridge year. Then Jabari Brown and Bruce Barron transferred and most said it was a lost season. What happened? Oh, we go out and damn near make the NCAA tournament and go far in the NIT. This season, Oregon was picked 7th and has exceeded expectations each step of the way. Altman still isn't satisfied, and he knows this team can do even better than it is doing right now. Altman doesn't settle for where people think the bar should be set, and we are damn lucky to have him.

Also, the defense has gotten so much better this season. Last year we couldn't afford to have stretched of the game where the offense was stagnant, but now we can. The post defense is as good as I can remember it as a Duck fan, and that has been huge. Oregon forced UCLA into being a jump-shooting team, and didn't give them many easy buckets. Occasionally there were some blown defensive assignments, but this team kept on responding. Damyean Dotson also showed a lot of grit in the game. He was struggling mightily throughout the game, but Altman stuck with him and he made big plays. This team doesn't rely on one guy to make it go, and it really is a team. Can't wait to go to MKA for the Husky game!
